Within the Industrial Revolution, division of social classes emerged. Various enterprises and industrialists began to earn more that the working class due to industrialization. Whereas the workers has a very low pay compared to the higher class and lived in very rural, unhealthy and unsafe conditions.
With a large number immigration from farm to cities in a small amount of time, many farmers found it difficult to supply themselves with their own daily necessities. A problem suck as finding fresh water was brought up, which was the cause of Cholera.
Urbanization put a lot of pressure on the government and the economics, to supply the people with what they need. On top of that there was a number of unemployment and underemployment which increased the number of slums and urban area’s in various districts in the city. With the shortage of water lead the outbreak of Cholera during 1831-32, 1848-49, 1854 and 1867.
The disease was feared and spread by contaminated water as a many people used the river as their source of drinking water, which made the disease spread even quicker. During the 1832-33 outbreak, it was estimated that 7000 people were contaminated with the disease. Whereas the second outbreak during 1848-49, over 12,000 people have died due to the disease. Cholera spread fairly quickly, especially through the slums of the city. Although, the disease hit both social classes, the rich and the poor.
Another disease which easliy spread throughtout the Industrial Revolution was Tuberculosis (TB). The disease was easily speard through coughs, when a healthy person would find himself near a sick person contaminated with tuberculosis. The disease first developed in rural area's, such as dirty and damp homes which were the poor lived.
